Course summary

Business Economics is concerned with the application of economics to decision-making in both public and private sector organisations. It aims to provide the conceptual tools necessary to facilitate an understanding of the economic nature of organisations, the incentive properties of an organisation's internal structures, the nature of its competitive environment and the reasons for the regulatory structures within which organisations function.

A level - ABB

GCSE Mathematics minimum grade B. A-level General Studies and Critical Thinking are normally excluded from offers. However, the grade achieved may be taken into account when results are published in August and may be used in a tie-break situation.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

Successful completion of BTEC National Extended Diploma (1080 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) at Level 3) with overall grades D*DD. GCSE Mathematics minimum grade B.

Access to HE Diploma - D: 24 credits M: 21 credits

A-level General Studies and Critical Thinking are normally excluded from offers. However, the grade achieved may be taken into account when results are published in August and may be used in a tie-break situation. GCSE Mathematics minimum grade B.

Scottish Higher - ABBBB

Scottish National 5 Mathematics minimum grade B. Separate targets are shown for Scottish Highers and Advanced Highers but offers are normally made on the basis of a combination of the two.

Pearson BTEC Extended Diploma (QCF)

Successful completion of BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (180 credits) with overall grades D*DD. GCSE Mathematics minimum grade B.

Scottish Advanced Higher - ABB

Scottish National 5 Mathematics minimum grade B. Separate targets are shown for Scottish Highers and Advanced Highers but offers are normally made on the basis of a combination of the two.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 33 points

Successful completion of IB with a total of 33 points including 6, 5, 5 in Higher Level subjects.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H3, H3, H3, H3, H3, H3

If Mathematics not taken at the Higher Level - Ordinary Level Mathematics grade O3.

GCSE Mathematics minimum grade B or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University.
