Course Overview
On our Neuroscience (with Foundation Year) course you’ll take a multidisciplinary approach to studying how the brain and nervous system work. You’ll receive a solid foundation in science as you develop your knowledge of how we understand and treat neurological disorders and diseases.
Why study with us
The foundation year will provide you with an interesting and stimulating grounding in science.
The course will enable you to gain key practical skills in our modern, spacious and well-equipped laboratory facilities.
You’ll learn how the brain and nervous system work to alter behaviour, perception, mood and memory.
What you'll do
Enhance your practical skills with a variety of hands-on Biology and Chemistry laboratory sessions and Physics workshops.
Neuroscience is literally the 'science of the brain' and you’ll develop knowledge from a wide range of disciplines including biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology and psychology.
You can use this foundation year as an opportunity to get to know other foundation students on different science-based degree programmes.
Future Careers
Our Neuroscience Foundation Year degree could lead to a career in science teaching, science writing, research and lab work. You could also end up working in labs and rehabilitation centres or pursue a career in the pharmaceutical industry or hospitals.
