Course summary

This programme is a 3 year, full- time vocational training which will provide a comprehensive training across a range of dance disciplines and styles for anyone wishing to become a professional dancer. The BA (Hons) Dance Programme at Italia Conti is delivered at Italia Conti’s Woking campus.
This BA (Hons) Dance is distinctive in its combination of a range of dance styles that will prepare you as an intelligent, versatile and highly skilled dancer. The acquisition of core skills in ballet, jazz, contemporary dance, aerial and acrobatic skills provide the fundamentals for professional level dance training alongside a wider curriculum which includes choreographic principles and practices, commercial dance, tap, singing and acting, and multiple opportunities to develop dance performance skills. This course also includes a great deal of guest industry workshops that clearly identify it as a unique course which will ensure students as they develop professional level industry skills.

The course seeks to develop excellence through a modular structure that allows for individual development and specialisation in dance styles and technique, as well as a core skills delivery.

This BA seeks to ensure that the core skills for employability are sustained, and the students are encouraged to view themselves as artists and content generators as well as executants of established forms and requirements. This is central to the long-term employability outcomes our graduates achieve and supports versatility.

The course aims to ensure that successful graduates:
• Acquire the knowledge and skills to perform as an actor to professional industry standards
• Acquire specialised skills in acting, voice, movement and singing and be able to synthesise these in professional performance practice
• Can operate as an actor in a professional environment, whether in Theatre or TV/Film (and other emerging recorded media industries)
• Possess transferable skills, especially in communication and self-presentation, teamwork, independent research, critical analysis, which would allow you to operate successfully in a variety of fields
• Are proactive in the creation of employment opportunities
• Can contextualise the historical and cultural framework of a performance
• Approach all genres of musical theatre, drama and performance with an open-minded approach

Applicants will need to submit a secondary application to Italia Conti. Once received they will be sent further audition information which will include a self tape submission for the 1st round and if successful a recall in person at our Woking, Surrey campus.
