This BSc Adult Nursing [Pre-registration] degree aims to produce excellent nurses, who are fit for practice and able to meet the key needs of all patient groups. It offers an integrated academic and professional training environment, which is built to help you to gain crucial knowledge and skills to develop a career in contemporary nursing practice.
During the initial stages of the course you will be given more direction and assistance to help you progress, from being a dependent learner, towards becoming an autonomous, reflective and critical individual as your knowledge develops.
As the course progresses, there is an expectation you will evolve into becoming independent and self-directed, taking increasing responsibility for your own learning and professional development.
This is a three-year, full-time degree consisting of field of practice, generic and practice learning modules. It starts at Level 4 and continues through to Level 6.
Practice Learning Experiences
The programme consists of six practice learning experiences, ensuring that you maximise your learning opportunities. Practice learning will help with the acquisition of skills required to achieve competence within the adult nursing field of practice.
We also ensure there is equal weighting for learning in practice and academic theory in accordance with the NMC guidelines. There are six mandatory practice learning modules, two small ones in year one, two medium ones in year two and two large ones one in year three, equating to 50% of the credit each year.
