Course summary

This programme will help you develop a wide range of engineering skills to help prepare you for the exciting world of modern engineering.
Subjects cover the underpinning maths and science as well as exploring the core skills required for 21st century engineers such as materials, CAD, project management, automation and robotics, programming, design, workshop practices and research/development.
This programme offers an excellent way to study towards a degree level course in Engineering with all the benefits of staying local with small class sizes and the close support of industry and educationally experienced lecturers. Students also benefit from academic and pastoral 1:1 tutorials, directed self-study and assignment workshops. The HND is 2 years full-time and you will complete the HNC during the first year of study.
You can also complete the HNC two years part-time (fees and information on request).

Assessment method

Students complete a number of formal assignments for each unit which are assessed internally and count towards the unit grade and overall qualification grade.
Assignments must be submitted electronically before a set deadline and may include a variety of evidence types including written work/reports, presentations, worked solutions and practical work observation.

Qualification requirements

UCAS Tariff - 80 - 144 points

A typical offer of either a T Level/Vocational Diploma/Apprenticeship/Extended Diploma in Engineering.

A level - CCD - AAA

A typical offer of vocational studies in STEM subjects of Maths and Physics or Engineering.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - MMP - DDD

A typical offer of either a T Level/Vocational Diploma/Apprenticeship/Extended Diploma in Engineering.

Access to HE Diploma - M: 30 credits P: 15 credits

A typical offer of Access to Higher Education Diploma in Engineering.

Scottish Higher - CCCDDD

A typical offer of vocational studies in STEM subjects of Maths and Physics or Engineering.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

GCSE Mathematics and English Language are required at grade C/4 or above.

T Level - P - D

A typical offer of a T Level in Engineering with a Pass (C+).

English as a second language at IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. Mature students with suitable experience and/or portfolio of work are welcome to make an application and attend an interview and/or audition.
