Course summary
Successful actuaries use mathematical skill and business acumen to solve financial problems related to risk and uncertainty.
This degree combines the expertise of the School for Business and Society and the Department of Mathematics, giving you access to world-class academics at the cutting edge of research in their fields. You'll sharpen your mathematical skills and statistical reasoning, using advanced calculus, algebra, probability and statistics. In parallel you'll study economics, finance and accounting, developing your understanding of the wider context of actuarial work. On successfully completing this course, you will be a multi-faceted and highly employable graduate with the financial and business skills required to qualify as a professional actuary. This course is available as a four-year degree including a year in industry: Actuarial Science (with a year in industry) (BSc).

Mathematics (or equivalent) at grade A is essential.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - DDD
We consider a range of BTEC qualifications equivalent to 3 A Levels, or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications.
A Level in Mathematics (or equivalent qualification) at grade A is essential. We may also consider relevant units in your BTEC as A Level Mathematics equivalent.
Access to HE Diploma - D: 39 credits M: 6 credits
Pass Access to HE Diploma with 39 credits at Distinction including Mathematics-related units and 6 at Merit or higher.

We will consider this qualification alongside or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications, as equivalent to one A Level.

If you achieve B or higher at EPQ, you may be eligible for an alternative offer up to one A Level grade (or equivalent) below our typical offer.
Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal - D3, D3, D3
Cambridge Pre-U Mathematics at grade D3 is essential.
OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma - DDD
We consider a range of OCR qualifications equivalent to 3 A Levels, or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications.
A Level in Mathematics (or equivalent qualification) at grade A is essential. We may also consider relevant units in your OCR Cambridge Technical as A Level Mathematics equivalent.
T Level
