WHY STUDY THIS COURSE?
This exciting degree combines your enthusiasm for esports and gaming with the contemporary academic subject of digital marketing, allowing you to learn through the lens of your passion. The Foundation Year (Year 0) is the first part of a four-year degree programme. It provides an alternative route for those unable to meet the traditional entry requirements for a three-year degree or are returning to study later in life.
Your modules have been carefully selected to create an enjoyable and engaging journey as well as challenging you as a student. This blend will provide a strong foundation in all that is digital marketing, within the context of esports, and ensure you will be able to apply your knowledge through work experience within the industry from an early stage.
Your modules such as ‘SEO & Digital Marketing’’ and ‘Social Media Management’ are vital subject areas to cover and can be put into practice from year one of your studies. Importantly, the ability to vocationally apply your knowledge into the esports industry from your first year will help to create a strong personal portfolio of evidence to support employability.
As you progress into your second year, modules such as ‘Digital Psychology in Esports’ dovetail perfectly with subjects such as ‘Content Creation’ and ‘Marketing Analysis’ to further enhance your knowledge. These also complement well with the ‘Esports & Social Enterprises’, ‘Esports Business & Events’ modules, as well as your learnings from year one to be able to further stretch your options and opportunities to work and engage.
As your journey matures into your final year, developing your understanding of ‘Managing Esports Online Communities’ and ‘Esports Brand Management’ ensures that you understand how to apply all your knowledge to date. Moreover, our ground-breaking academic discipline of ‘Digital & Online Monetisation’, developed at our institution, helps you understand how to earn from various marketing strategies.
THE AIMS OF THIS COURSE:
To prepare you for a career in the global esports business or further study with the skills of enquiry, within an evidence-based practice-led, knowledge applied interdisciplinary curriculum and performative research framework.
To prepare you with the competencies needed to adapt and thrive in life’s continuously changing environments, employment and an increasingly diverse global society.
