Course summary

The HND in Construction & the Built Environment: Construction Management is a Uni-level programme designed for students who have experience of, or work in, the construction industry.

The course will help you build upon your skills in site management, contracts and management and Building Information Modelling (BIM), sustainability and the management of complex buildings.
You will study key areas such as construction-based law, alternative modern methods of construction (AMC’s), site safety and in addition to site management techniques, you will also learn about contract procedures, project management and the construction risk assessment process.

The course will involve seven HND Units comprising:

  • Management for Complex Building Projects
  • Alternative Methods of Construction
  • Maintenance and Operations
  • Personal Professional Development

Assessment method

Teaching and learning takes place in a classroom environment, with set assessments involving a combination of coursework, group presentation exercises and classwork which will show your knowledge gained and industry expertise.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:

Qualification requirements

Students must be 18, and hold the following qualifications:
Completion of the HNC in Construction and the Built Environment or an equivalent qualification in a relevant construction related discipline. Attainment of GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C or above.
