Course summary

Set yourself on the path to a career as a qualified pharmacist, and develop the skills and knowledge needed in this constantly evolving sector, with our MPharm Pharmacy course.

You will learn how the body works, how medicines affect it, and how these medicines are designed. The course focuses on different areas of the body and you'll learn how, for each one, the chemistry, biology, and pharmacology, pharmaceutics and pharmacy practice are interrelated. This will enable you to apply information to patient care right from the first year.

This degree is accredited by the pharmacy regulator, the General Pharmaceutical Council, and has been designed to reflect the changing roles of pharmacists.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - DDD

Applicants must be taking all of the following units in Applied Science (2016): Applications of Inorganic Chemistry (13) Applications of Organic Chemistry (14) Industrial Chemical Reactions (18) Practical Chemical Analysis (19)

Access to HE Diploma - D: 30 credits M: 15 credits

including relevant science units.

Scottish Higher - AABBB

Chemistry and one other science subject at grade B. Acceptable science subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Further Maths, Statistics, Psychology, Geography, Environmental Studies, Applied Science, Geology, Computer Science, ICT.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 32 points

Chemistry at grade 6 and one other science subject at grade 5 at Higher Level. Acceptable science subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Further Maths, Statistics, Psychology, Geography, Environmental Studies, Applied Science, Geology, Computer Science, ICT.

Welsh Baccalaureate - Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (last awarded Summer 2024) - A - B

The Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate Skills Challenge Certificate will be accepted in lieu of one A Level at the grade achieved, when studied alongside Chemistry and one other science subject.

Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal - D3, M2, M2

to include Chemistry and one other science subject. Acceptable science subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Further Maths, Statistics, Psychology, Geography, Environmental Studies, Applied Science, Geology, Computer Science, ICT.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

GCSE Mathematics at grade B (or 5) and GCSE English at grade C (4).
