By metro/train

The nearest Metro stop varies depending on your destination – here are our locations and the nearest Metro station: Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peter’s, Panns Bank and Scotia Quay: St Peter’s

All Metro stations have cycle storage there or somewhere close by. If you want to make cycling part of your journey you can leave your bike securely locked to one of the cycle racks, Streetpods or in a smart cycle locker and continue with your journey by Metro.

Sunderland Station has connections to a range of major cities, including London, York, and Newcastle. The station is located in the town centre, and you can hop on the Metro from there. You can connect to international rail services at London.

University metro station is a five-minute walk from City Campus while Park Lane bus station is a 10-minute walk away (or a couple of minutes on the Metro).

By bus

Sunderland Coach Station is located at the Park Lane Interchange which is a 5-minute walk away from City Campus and a 20 minute walk or short metro/bus journey away from St Peter's Campus.

By car

Middlesbrough is linked to the national road network by the A1(M), the A19 and the A66 dual carriageways. Follow signs to the town centre - the University is signposted from there.

Middlesbrough town centre

The A19 passes within one mile of Middlesbrough. The University's main entrance and reception is at the intersection of Linthorpe Road and Southfield Road. Unless otherwise advised you should report to reception.

Note unless advised otherwise there is no available parking on the University Campus. Town centre car parks are nearby.

By train

Middlesbrough is 30 minutes from Darlington Station which operates direct services to London and Edinburgh. The TransPennine Express runs between Middlesbrough and Newcastle, York, Leeds, Manchester, Manchester Airport and Liverpool.

By bus

A National Express coach service operates to and from Middlesbrough Bus Station.

By air

Teesside International Airport is 13 miles away. It has flight connections to many British and European airports.

By Car

Newport is only two hours away from London via the M4, while other motorways and dual carriageways connect Newport with the North, Midlands, South East and South West England and West Wales. 

There are a number of multi-storey car parks situated around the City Campus and the Kingsway car park is opposite.

The postcode is NP20 2BP.

By train 

If travelling by rail, the City Campus is approximately 5 – 10 minutes walk away from the train station. 

There are excellent Intercity services to Newport from all major cities. London is one hour and forty minutes away and Birmingham two hours by high speed trains which operate hourly. 

For those travelling to the City Campus by foot directions are available which takes approximately 10 – 15 minutes.

By bus 

Newport is served by regular National Express Coaches from London, West Wales, the North, Midlands and South West England. 

There is also a direct service from Heathrow, Gatwick and Bristol Airports.

By air 

Cardiff International Airport is 27 miles from the campus and is serviced by regular bus and rail links.  

London’s Heathrow airport is about two-and-a-half hour drive away and there is also an airport at Bristol.

Directions

UCAS Headquarters - Rosehill, is easy to find. Follow signs to Cheltenham, Racecourse Park and Ride, or signs to Evesham A435.

From the south M5 

  • Exit the M5 motorway at junction 11
  • Take the third exit for Cheltenham (A40)
  • Continue straight over the first roundabout (LeonardoHotel). Keep GCHQ on your left
  • Turn left at the second roundabout (signposted A4013)
  • Continue along Princess Elizabeth Way, past Gloscat, bearing right at Coronation Square. Turn left, passing Pates Grammar School on your left
  • At the next roundabout, continue straight over, past McDonalds (second exit signposted Bishops Cleeve, Southam)
  • ** Continue straight over two mini roundabouts (signposted Evesham A435) on to Wymans Lane with Simply Gym on the right
  • After the pedestrian crossing take the next right into Swindon Lane
  • Continue over the level crossing and straight over the mini roundabout
  • At the next mini roundabout continue straight over
  • At the Racecourse roundabout take the third exit signposted Prestbury, on to New Barn Lane
  • The Park and Ride car park is situated on your left, immediately opposite Rosehill 

From the north M5 

  • Exit the M5 motorway at junction 10 (signposted Cheltenham) to join A4019
  • Continue along Tewkesbury Road through three sets of traffic lights (Sainsbury’s on your left) and pedestrian crossing
  • At the first roundabout turn left into Kingsditch Lane (signposted Bishops Cleeve, Southam) past McDonalds on the left
  • Continue from ** above 

From the M40 Oxford 

  • Follow signs to A40 Cheltenham
  • After ‘Welcome to Cheltenham’ sign travel approximately one mile through Charlton Kings
  • Continue through the traffic lights along London Road, with the church on your left
  • At the next set of traffic lights, turn right into Hales Road B4075 (signposted Prestbury)
  • After GCHQ, continue on to Priors Road
  • At the junction turn right into Prestbury Road
  • At the double mini roundabout, turn left into Tatchley Lane
  • Continue on to New Barn Lane (signposted Racecourse)
  • Pass the university on your left and continue towards the roundabout. Rosehill is located on your left directly opposite the Racecourse
  • The Park and Ride car park is situated on your right, directly opposite Rosehill

A (Cheltenham Racecourse) Park and Ride car park is situated directly opposite UCAS Headquarters.

The nearest rail station is: Cheltenham Spa located in the town centre, approximately 15 minutes by taxi. 

By bus

The nearest bus station is: Cheltenham. A park and ride service is available from town to the racecourse directly opposite UCAS. 

By air

  • Bristol Airport: 60-75 minutes by car.
  • Birmingham Airport: Situated to the east of Birmingham, on the M42, approximately 60-75 minutes by car.
