A first-timers guide to a virtual event

Never been to a virtual exhibition before? Don’t worry, we’re here to guide you through what to expect from your first visit, and help you make the most of the experience.

Get ready…

Before the event, it’s a good idea to start thinking about who you want to speak to on the day, and which sessions you want to join. You can see which unis and apprenticeship providers are exhibiting on our website, so have a look at your chosen date and pick out the ones you’re most interested in, and a few you want to find out some more about.

You’ll be surprised by the range of courses each uni offers, so it’s a good idea to visit as many as you can to be sure you don’t miss out on potentially discovering your ideal course. Courses vary a lot, so have a think about what’s important to you, is there a specific topic within your subject you definitely want to study?

Once you’ve decided on who you want to see, think about the questions you’ll ask:

  • Do you want to know what to expect from a certain course or apprenticeship?
  • Or finding out about accommodation options and campus facilities?
  • Or do you have questions about COVID and studying in 2022?

Find a space

Find yourself a quiet spot where you won’t be distracted to start exploring the event. This is your chance to access tons of resources, and meet loads of unis and apprenticeship providers in one place, so make the most of it! Grab yourself a pen and paper, and get stuck in.

Maximise your experience

To make sure you can join and get the best experience from the event, we recommend you:

  • join on a PC or Mac desktop computer
  • connect using Google Chrome
  • close any other applications

If you can’t sign in, or you get stuck with a technical issue, get in touch at [email protected] or visit the help desk inside the event and we’ll get you sorted.

What to expect

With five areas to explore, you’ll need plenty of time to make sure you can see everything. Have a look at our ultimate UCAS/Discovery checklist to make sure you don’t miss a thing!

Remember, the unis will be there in person on the event day to answer your questions live, so make the most of speaking to them. After the live event, you can still contact them using the ‘Chat to us’ button on their stands, but responses won’t be instant.

Get stuck in…

Just sign in on the day to get stuck in! Your future starts here…
