Bristol boasts a rich cultural heritage, art scene with street art by Banksy adorning its buildings, museums and galleries  Bristol is known for its music scene producing musicians including Massive Attack, Portishead, and Roni Size. The city has three theatres, The Hippodrome, The Bristol Old Vic and The Tobacco Factory. The Bristol Film Festival showcases films from around the world. .Bristol is regarded as one of the greenest cities being named European Green Capital in 2015 and the friendliest city in 2022!  The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta draws visitors from all over the world to witness hundreds of hot air balloons taking to the skies. Bristol's festival scene is diverse and exciting. St Pauls Carnival is a celebration of Afro-Caribbean culture, featuring colourful costumes, music, and dance. Other festivals include The Bristol Harbour Festival, The Bristol Pride Festival, Love Saves the Day Festival and the Tokyo World Festival

The South West of England is made up of seven counties, with rural areas surrounding key student cities – from Plymouth and Bournemouth up to Bath, Bristol and Cheltenham & Gloucester.

You'll find many a festival – including the world-famous Glastonbury. And if you're a cider or cheese buff, you'll have plenty to try in the South West. You can always walk it off in Dartmoor and Exmoor national parks, or beautiful countryside from the Cotswolds to Land's End.

Cornwall, Dorset, and Devon are big coastal favourites, with idyllic beaches and waves to test the bravest surfers.

Campus and facilities

University Centre WISE was awarded University Centre status in 2019 and has excellent sports and arts facilities. The campus is also home to Bristol Institute of Performing Arts (BIPA) and SGS Sport Bristol. There is a sports bar, which opens from 18:00. The facilities include Art Studios, Game Design Studios and Media Workshops. We are within easy walking distance from Parkway Railway station and is also in close driving distance of the M4/M5. Bristol School of Art Situated in Bristol City Centre, opened in 1858 and is situated to the right of the Royal West of England Academy. It is located within easy reach of the City of Bristol. A school of art has existed here since 1858. Bristol Zoo Project  Bristol Zoo opened 1836 - 2022, and the Wild Place Project since 2013. The fifth oldest zoo in the world and home to some of the world’s most endangered animals. It provides teaching, learning and placement opportunities to students studying on our Zoological Management programmes
