Hello, I'm Michael from Liverpool. I've been at LJMU since 2005 studying at undergraduate, postgraduate, and now my PhD - while working for the university in various different roles too! Currently, I'm a fulltime PhD student in the School of Education, on the LJMU Vice Chancellor's PhD Scholarship, hoping to become an Academic in Higher Education after finishing. I've studied two undergraduate degrees (Marketing and Law - Marketing was a Sandwich Programme with a year in industry), a Postgrad Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and a Masters in Advanced Educational Practice. I have worked for the University for a number of years including in Student Recruitment, Library Services and Employability - and with the Student's Union for a number of projects, so have a good general knowledge about LJMU - please ask me anything and I'm sure I'll be able to help! I'm also from Liverpool - just ten minutes outside the city centre - any questions about the city are welcome too. I'm a certified Sushi chef and love cooking - as well as most sports and keeping fit - I go the LJMU gym five times a week - and have been involved in numerous societies, clubs and events over the years, so can help with questions about stuff to do outside of your studies, particularly when it comes to making new friends! I use one of the LJMU libraries to study in everyday too - and love the little community of fellow students we've developed here - so any questions about the libraries, daily study options or just what to expect in general, please let me know.

As a first-generation immigrant, born in Italy to Bangladeshi parents and raised in the UK, my perspective on international relations was shaped from a young age by diverse background. This unique background, situated at the crossroads of different identities, ignited a deep-seated passion for politics and international relations. I was driven not only by a curiosity about global affairs but also by a clear recognition of the underrepresentation of people who look like me in these fields. I am eager to leverage my unique background, drive, and cultural curiosity to contribute meaningfully to the field of diplomacy.

Around campus, I'm usually quite busy. I've been a Welcome Week Helper - so I can tell you a lot about what to expect from Welcome Week. I've also been elected to student council twice - once as General Representative and most recently as Charities Officer. I've always looked to get involved in student societies and have been involved in the Bar and Advocacy society, Raising and Giving Society as well as the Law Review. 

I also love sports! I used to play for Glasgow uni's football team every Wednesday in first year. More recently, I have taken part in boxing as part of Student Fight Night. On my year abroad, I have also taken up rugby which has been great fun.
