Course summary
Agriculture has a vital role to play in global food production and security, climate change mitigation, environmental protection, water management and renewable energy creation.
Our Agriculture students are taught by lecturers with extensive industry and research experience to develop and manage sustainable production systems integrating appropriate technologies to maximise economic, social and environmental security. You will be studying in a diverse range of learning spaces located at the heart of our Future Farm alongside students from a wide range of rural and urban backgrounds, whilst establishing a life-long network of friends and professional contacts.
You will soon be putting your learning into practice engaging with real-world scenarios and projects from day one. Supported by an integrated placement year in industry, you will be ready for your future career having developed a range of personal, technical and professional skills that today’s employers value.
By the end of this degree, you should be confident in developing and managing sustainable production systems, integrating appropriate technologies to maximise economic, social and environmental security.
All agriculture students share a common first year, studying the same modules, before continuing with agriculture or focusing on a specialism; this allows students to change course during the first year.
4 years (full-time) including a one-year work placement. A three year programme is available for applicants with at least two years, full-time relevant work experience. Please contact Admissions for further information on this option.

Assessment method
• We will be assessing student progress using a blend of different methods such as individual and group presentations, technical writing, data handling and analysis, personal development planning and time constrained assessments.
• The diverse assessment journey will give students an equitable chance to succeed and develop skills for employment and life-long learning.

Minimum of 3 A2 passes.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - DDD
This should be in a relevant subject.
Please note these grades apply only to the new examined version of the Level 3 Extended Diploma which should be 1080 Guided Learning Hours. We do not accept the 720 GLH version as fully meeting our Level 3 entry requirements.
For applicants taking a City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma, offers tend to be in the region of DDD
Please note these grades apply only to the new examined (reformed) version of the Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma which should be 1080 Guided Learning Hours. For the previous version of this course, the City and Guilds Level 3 Extended Diploma, we require grade D.
We do not accept the 720 GLH version as fully meeting our Level 3 entry requirements. If you are unsure which version you are studying please contact your school or college for advice.

Applicants taking A levels must have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language, Maths and a Science.
Applicants taking an Extended Diploma must have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language, Maths and a Science
Where an applicant was not given access to GCSE Science, a BTEC level 2 in Science will be accepted as an alternative at a grade M. Confirmation will be required from the school/college that GCSE Science was not an option.
T Level - D
Accepted subject Agriculture, Land Management and Production
Routes: Crop and Plant Production, Land-based Engineering, Livestock production

Routes: Laboratory sciences, Food sciences

Applicants taking an Extended Diploma must have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language, Maths and a Science.
The University is happy to consider applications from those who are studying mixed qualifications, such as combinations of BTECs and A levels. Due to the numerous combinations available it is impossible to state the entry requirements for these, but applicants can expect to receive offers with comparable grades to those without mixed qualifications.
