Course summary

Our International Business Management foundation year programme has been designed to develop your basic leadership and management skills, preparing you for your future studies and a successful career in business.

Whether you want to better prepare for academic life, didn't get the grades you needed, or you've taken a break from studying, the foundation year is designed to prepare you for future studies, so everyone is welcome.

/ Study the fundamental principles of international business management

This course is also available with:
• Placement Year - on the placement year option, you will not pay fees to the University and will earn a wage for the work that you do.
• Study Abroad – study with one of our partner Universities for a semester or a year.

Modules

Foundation Year: Foundations of Business, Academic and Personal Skills, Sustainable Business Development, Employability for Life, Digital Business, Business Project.

Year 1: Understanding Organisations, Business Finance in Practice, The Future of Business, Digital and Business Skills, Data Analysis for Business, International Business.

Year 2: Professional Development, International Trade and Finance, International Logistics and Distribution Management, Project Management, Live Project for International Business. You will also choose an elective module. Please visit the website for more information.

Year 3: Contemporary Issues in International Business, Leadership and Management in International Business, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Business Ethics and Sustainability, International Business Culture, Strategic International Business, You will also choose an elective module. Assessment method

We use different forms of assessment in different modules and wherever possible these will reflect the types of work you will do in the ‘real world’ for example, report writing, presentations and business pitches. Exams will only be used when it is a requirement for professional accreditation.

Throughout your studies, the work you produce will help to build your personal portfolio of professional evidence that you will be able to use in job applications and interviews.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) MMP

Access to HE Diploma

A minimum of 64 UCAS Tariff Points from a QAA Approved Level 3 Access to HE Diploma to contain a minimum of 45 credits at Level 3 and 15 at Level 2 to total 60 credits overall for the full award.

Scottish Higher

64 points from a minimum of 1 Advanced Higher.

AS

64 From a minimum of 1 A Levels or equivalent. Additional AS Levels can be used towards the overall tariff points provided they are not completed in the same subject as the A Level.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme 26 points

including a grade 5 in standard level maths and grade 6 in standard level english or grade 4 in higher level maths and grade 5 in higher level english

Welsh Baccalaureate - Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (last awarded Summer 2024)

64 points. Not acceptable on it's own.

Extended Project

64 points. Not acceptable on it's own. Points must be gained from a minimum of 1 A Level or equivalent.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017)

64 points from a minimum of 1 Higher Level Subject including a minimum of H7 (D3)or O4 (C3) in Maths and English

Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal

64 points. Not acceptable on it's own. Points must be gained from a minimum of 1 A2 or equivalent.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

Grade C or grade 4 (or above) in Maths and English GCSE is required. Equivalent qualifications Key Skills Level 2, and Functional Skills Level 2, are also accepted.
