The BA (Hons) Sport Development with Coaching Top Up degree at Birmingham Newman University not only offers a fresh and relevant curriculum for the modern sport student, it has been specifically designed to equip you with the skills needed for academic and vocational success both on and off the sports field. The ‘development’ strand focuses on aspects of sports management, sport sociology, sport policy and sport events, while the ‘coaching’ strand develops an understanding of established and innovative grassroots, community and elite coaching techniques and leadership styles.

We are currently unable to accept applications from international learners.
All applicants will need to have 120 credits at level 4 and 120 credits at level 5 in a relevant Foundation Degree or HND. Applicants should normally achieve 80% merits (minimum) in the final year.
Applicants should also hold GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent awards). If your application meets our entry requirements, you may be invited to attend an interview.
All applicants intending to progress directly onto level 6 are required to attend and pass a bridging module prior to enrolment. This module focuses on research methods and academic writing. Applicants not achieving pass this module will enter the programme at level 5 (second year of the degree programme). Please refer to the Birmingham Newman University website for details.
