People are at the heart of any business or organisation. Our course prepares you for a rewarding career in human resource management.
Our Human Resource Management course covers all the areas of people management in organisations, including employee recruitment & selection, employee learning & development, employee reward, and performance management.
You'll develop a breadth of knowledge in a range of subjects that impact directly on all areas of business performance and competitiveness. You'll also gain an understanding of leadership and how the behaviours of individuals and teams contribute to the success of organisations.
Professional accreditation
The Business School recognises the importance of professional body accreditation, to ensure that not only do we deliver well researched courses, but also that our students meet the professional expectations of prospective employers and have the opportunity to gain professional body qualifications. This includes modules accredited by the Association of Project Management (APM). Our Project Management module was the first from a university to gain accreditation and exemption for its teaching and assessment. The Business School has accreditation with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and students enrolling on to this programme automatically gain student membership of the CMI.
Location
This course is run at our Canterbury Campus in Kent. Canterbury is just 50 miles south-east of London and less than an hour by high-speed train from St Pancras. Located on a UNESCO World Heritage Site the campus offers state-of-the-art buildings, right in the centre of a vibrant and world-famous cathedral city. You’ll benefit from a campus with excellent learning and teaching resources, music venues, a superb sports centre, a well-stocked bookshop and plenty of coffee bars and places to eat. A short walk away is Augustine House our award-winning library and home to a vast range of learning resources and student support teams.
Most modules comprise a one-hour lecture supported by a one-hour seminar and tutorials. Seminar groups are small, max. 25 students. Materials are on-line and you will have access to our app. Assessment is varied including examinations, coursework and presentations. A year in industry is an optional part of most degrees, spending the third year of a four year degree in a full-time, paid work placement with an employer. The Business School has its own Placements Manager dedicated to helping you find suitable work placements. Find out more about our students’ experiences by reading the profiles on our web-site. You will have the opportunity to participate in external events. The IBM challenge is a fantastic opportunity for the students involved to develop essential business skills that employers are looking for such as; team work, ability to work under pressure and innovative thinking. With the FLUX Sustainable Business Challenge business ideas are “pitched” to a judging.
