Course summary
Explore the laws that underpin the entire universe with BSc Physics with Particle Physics & Cosmology. From the fundamental building blocks of our universe to the vast celestial bodies that make up the night sky, you'll study in a friendly and supportive environment.
Search for answers to the biggest questions by exploring the smallest particles and their interactions. Build problem-solving, programming, mathematical and teamwork skills giving you a competitive edge when job hunting.
Develop a broad understanding of the essential concepts of physics and cosmology. You’ll learn from global experts taking part in cutting-edge research at CERN and other international laboratories and observatories. You could even visit CERN yourself and have a tour around the lab. Study topics including quantum mechanics, nuclear physics, the structure of the universe and observational cosmology.
You’ll benefit from state-of-the-art study spaces, computing suites and laboratories. Our research spaces include our own particle accelerators, the MC40 cyclotron for charged particles and HF-ADNeF, the most intense accelerator driven neutron source worldwide, as well as labs used for the construction of the detectors and electronics used in the experiments at the Large Hadron Collider.
As a Birmingham Physics graduate, you'll have a broad range of options for the future either working directly in a scientific environment or using transferable skills in different roles.
