Previous study on a Medicine course
Transferring from another Medicine programme is not allowed. We do not consider applications from students who have previously commenced a medical degree and not progressed due to academic failure, fitness to practice or professionalism issues. If an applicant has left a previous medical degree programme for other reasons, their application may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Concurrent enrolment
University regulations do not permit concurrent enrolment in Graduate Entry Medicine and any other award-bearing programme at this or any other university. All other degree programmes must be completed before enrolment on the Graduate Entry Medicine programme.
Equivalent qualifications
We accept equivalent secondary school and degree qualifications which are approved by Swansea University. For applicants from majority non-English speaking countries, IELTS 7.0 with no less than 7.0 in speaking and 6.5 in listening, reading and writing is accepted as equivalent. Details of approved tests of English proficiency can be found on our website.
Admissions tests
For Home applications, we accept GAMSAT test results, and for International applications, we accept either GAMSAT or MCAT results. Results must be from a sitting within two years of application. The list of valid GAMSAT sittings can be found here. Applicants who meet the annual cut-off score (determined once all test scores are confirmed) and above will be invited to interview.
The minimum acceptable GAMSAT score is 50, including a minimum of 50 in Paper 3
The minimum acceptable MCAT score is 500
The minimum acceptable UCAT score is 2550
Please note: For September 2024 entry our cut-off scores have been confirmed:

*All applicants MUST have sat the GAMSAT, UCAT or MCAT test prior to submitting an application. We will not consider any application that does not have either a valid GAMSAT or MCAT score, or proof that an applicant has taken the test and is waiting for their result.
