Terms and Conditions
- As a Student Content Creator you may be invited to create content for our social media channels or other websites advised by UCAS (‘Content’).
- By submitting Content to UCAS you confirm that you have read and understood these terms and conditions (“the Terms”). UCAS reserves the right to alter these Terms without prior notice. Please ensure you review these Terms on a regular basis and always before you decide to create Content. The current draft of these Terms was adopted and published on 26/07/2023. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not create any Content for us.
- You confirm that you are 16 years of age or over. We may ask you to provide proof of your age.
- You are urged not to reveal any personal details in your Content, including where you live, where you attend school or college, how old you are, or your telephone number.
- We may use your Content on our social media channels, but we cannot promise to. Your Content will be assessed using the criteria set out in the briefing document that we will send to you and we shall notify you should we wish to use your Content.
- Where we use your Content on our social media channels we will send you a £50 voucher by email to the email address that you supply to us. It is your responsibility to ensure that your email address is correct and that you update us if you change it. We reserve the right to withdraw reduce or change any vouchers without notice.
- All the Content you choose to share shall be considered non-confidential and non-proprietary, and you grant UCAS a royalty free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, fully sub-licensable and worldwide right and licence to use, reproduce and deal with such content by all means whatsoever (including, without limitation in print and in electronic form) and you waive all moral rights in the Content.
- You confirm that the Content you submit to us is your own work.
- You agree that your Content shall not:
- contain anything that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, profane, vulgar, obscene, invasive of another person’s privacy, hateful, fraudulent, discriminatory, provokes or encourages violence or is racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable
- impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your relationship with any person or entity
- include anything:
- which you do not have a right to post
- that may damage the reputation or good will of UCAS
- that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights of any person or entity
- that would infringe any UK laws
- harass another person
- collect or store personal data about other users
- include any links to any website if the presence of such link and the content accessible through such link would breach these Terms and Conditions
- share any unsolicited or unauthorised commercial advertising or promotional materials
- share any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, damage, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment
- promote the use of alcohol or drugs
Content that is in violation of any of the above paragraph 9 will not be used by UCAS and shall be deleted by us without notice, warning or explanation to you, and such violation could lead to legal action being taken against you by the authorities or an aggrieved party. For the avoidance of doubt, nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall restrict the freedom of UCAS staff to question and test received wisdom, and put forward new ideas and controversial or unpopular opinions.
- UCAS invites users to notify it of any Content that does not, in the user’s opinion, comply with these Terms and Conditions. UCAS undertakes to address any complaints promptly and without bias or prejudice.
- You acknowledge and agree that UCAS has no control over and is not responsible for the platforms on which your Content may be placed. UCAS shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with such platforms.
- You acknowledge that UCAS is not liable for technical, hardware, or software failures of any kind or lost, inconsistent or unavailable network connections that may limit or prohibit Content being uploaded or sent to us.
- By submitting Content to us you consent to UCAS using the personal information you provide to us when you sign up for the purpose of administering your participation as a Student Content Creator and you consent to UCAS using your image as captured in your Content for distribution on our social media channels where we choose to. UCAS is committed to processing personal information in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 and further details, including your rights, can be found in our privacy policy.
- Withdrawing your consent – we will stop using your personal data from the point you withdraw your consent. You acknowledge that Content published prior to withdrawal of your consent may remain on social media or other websites which are not under the control of UCAS.
- You agree to indemnify UCAS fully against any liabilities, claims, costs, loss (including consequential loss) or damage incurred as a result of any material you provide, or as a result of any breach by you of these Terms. If you are in any doubt about your Content then you should not upload it or send it to us.
- These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
